05/17/06 Compliance audit in Little River Academy, TX.
The course on Saturday had 400 in attendance. Based on the course evaluation sheets, only one person made a negative comment. The remainder of the attendants in both courses were satisfied. They made comments that the course was interesting and entertaining.
The course on Friday had 700 in attendance. Based on the course evaluation sheets, less than 1% had anything remotely negative to say about the presentation. Those few comments came as constructive criticism for the most part.
04/21/06 & 04/22/06 Sharalyn taught the 3 hour Jurisprudence CE course on both days for the Star of the South Dental Meeting in Houston.
04/03/06 Sharalyn conducted a compliance audit in West Fort Worth. To date, this audit had the least number of violations. DDS and staff were somewhat aware of what Sharalyn would be looking for, because of the audit that was done in their sister office. But several violations were still noted, and came as a little bit of a surprise to the staff.
03/20/06 Sharalyn conducted a compliance audit in Fort Worth. This DDS attended the Jurisprudence course. DDS was relieved to know that he now had an accurate evaluation of his practice and now knows what to do to be in compliance. The study group session over lunch was great for this group. DDS also liked the fact that his employees were hearing the importance of these issues from someone other than him..... Several violations in RECORDKEEPING and SANITATION PRACTICES were noted and brought to the immediate attention of the staff.
03/06/06 Sharalyn conducted a compliance audit in Fort Worth. This DDS specializes in pediatric dentistry. Several deficiencies were noted that collectively, could have been very cost for this DDS had he been complained on for these issues. DDS was relieved to now know all of the recordkeeping requirements and now feels that his records will be correct and thorough. This DDS is also having Sharalyn audit his second office location in the area. This DDS contacted Sharalyn after she was referred to him from a colleage that attended her Jurisprudence course.
02/27/06 Sharalyn conducted a compliance audit in south Dallas. DDS happy to be informed on exactly what changes needed to take place in order to ensure compliance. The staff was also glad to have information about what they could do to minimize the chances of getting a complaint.
02/20/06 Sharalyn conducted an onsite compliance audit at a Fort Worth pediatric dental office. The audit took most of the day to complete, with participation from all staff members. The staff had concerns that were addressed with the DDS. Several RECORDKEEPING deficiencies were corrected, along with several equipment corrections too. DDS and staff are taking immediate steps to correcting the deficiencies and they all well on their way to being totally compliant with TSBDE rules and regulations. DDS was pleased with the education that everyone got and is spreading the word about DCS, LLC.
02/10/06 Sharalyn taught the Jurisprudence CE course for an association of the AGD and was invited by Dr. Donald Steinberg. Attorney Joe Waller recommended Sharalyn to Dr. Steinberg. Joe litigates many cases before the TSBDE and knows Sharalyn from her position there. The course went very well with approximately 130 in attendance. Several people commented that the course was actually interesting!
02/03/06 An onsite compliance audit was conducted in Carrollton at the office of James Wallace, DDS. Dr. Wallace gave me permission to use his name for a reference. Dr. Wallace was pleased with the overall outcome and was glad to have his entire staff involved in learning about compliance together. Please contact Dr. Wallace if you have a question about his experience. Dr. Wallace attended one of my Jurisprudence study groups.
2005:
12/19/05 Sharalyn contacted the TSBDE and requested a copy of the latest board rules. This copy will reflect changes that were made to the rules so that DCS, LLC is current on all information.
12/19/05 Sharalyn conducted a 1-1/2 hour study group in Lewisville. The group consisted of one DDS, two RDH, 4 DA, and one front office staff member. Everyone felt that the information was valuable. As a result of the study group, each person had a clear understanding of their role in compliance issues. This was helpful to the DDS because he knew his staff needed to hear these things from someone other than him. He will attend the Jurisprudence class in February and is planning to have Sharalyn back to his practice in a few months to conduct a followup audit.
12/12/05 Sharalyn conducted an onsite compliance audit in Flower Mound. There was 1 DDS, 2 RDH, and 2 auxiliary staff. The audit took 6 hours to complete. DDS was enlightened to deficiencies in RECORDKEEPING AND SANITATION...to name a few. Now he is aware of the changes to implement in his practice and he can relax knowing that if the TSBDE shows up, he's good to go.
11/29/05 Sharalyn conducted a study group at a dinner party conducted by Dr. Steinberg in Carrollton. There were about 25 attendees. We went over the most commonly broken violations that observed while an investigator for theTSBDE. There were lots of interesting and relevant questions posed to me during this short 1-1/2 hour meeting. The questions got answered and "eyes were opened" to the potential pit-falls in the TSBDE rules. I've got the inside scoop, so I helped these people to watch out for those common violations. As a result of this meeting, two dentists have scheduled onsite compliance audits, and one scheduled a study group.
11/10/05 Sharalyn conducted an onsite compliance audit in Frisco. It was a bit disheartening to the DDS to find out how much was "wrong". But changes are being implemented as we speak. Key violations were noted in the RECORDKEEPING as well as those regulations involved in narcotic drug storage. Several staff members have contacted me with questions since the audit, which is great. I will be available to this office for consult from now on.
10/10/05 Sharalyn conducted an onsite compliance audit for a well-established dental office in the Dallas area. Some deficiencies were immediately corrected and some will take time to implement. Many were in the area of RECORDKEEPING. The dentist and staff were shocked at some of the discoveries and were thankful to have the information that was provided to them.
09/30/05 Sharalyn Fichtl presented a Jurisprudence CE course to the Dallas Academy of General Dentistry. The course went well with positive and encouraging feedback from attendees. Out of 72 attendees, there were 8 inquiries for information on the onsite compliance audit program and 3 inquiries regarding study groups. Dr. Steve Bender is president of the Dallas AGD.
